Mallee Observations

1 - 26 August 2022

John Falcon

I enjoy seeking new and different perspectives of the landscape when I paint, with various objects and shapes diffused in the foreground or background. Almost like seeing the view from a bird’s angle – sitting in a tree or nesting on the ground. Using various mediums like watercolour, inks, and acrylic, it helps me explore the landscapes and refine my skills and tests my ability. This also say something of my nationality and how it finds its way into my landscapes, often breaking away from the ‘traditional norm’. Finding a connection to place is important to me and socially therefore I am also involved in local art groups to continue to learn and share together as we translate what we see in front of us to create depictions of our own environments.

Chris Fraser

a selection of recent works on paper – narratives from the heart …

Colour is all important to my artwork; colour, line and pattern. Influences are many and ever changing. They range from exotic fruit to illustrated books to the universal subconscious. Over the last few years I have worked from early childhood photos, which are black and white. My aim was to take the personal and interpret it in a more universal and symbolic form. I gain a great deal of pleasure from seeing the enjoyment that other people experience from my artwork.
